14th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Clinical Virology”
Centro de Congressos da Madeira. Funchal, Madeira, Portugal
21 September 2011 - 24 September 2011

We are very pleased to invite you to the 14th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Clinical Virology, in Funchal, Madeira, 21-24 September 2011. This meeting will cover hot topics of clinical virology, as well as a wide range of other themes, from fundamental research to epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention and therapy, maintaining the high scientific standards of previous meetings of this Society.

The archipelago of Madeira includes the islands of Madeira, Porto Santo, Desertas and Selvagens.

Madeira is known for its friendly people, exceptional natural beauty and mild climate, and also for its natural environment, where the most important feature is the Laurissilva Forest, a relic of the Tertiary Age, which has been classified by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site. It is also well known for its year-round outdoor sports. Its traditions and customs, visible in its old buildings, museums and churches and even in regional products like its wine and embroidery, have lasted for centuries.

Porto Santo is 40 km from Madeira and has a 9 kilometre beach of golden sand washed by warm, crystalline waters.

The uninhabited Desertas Islands are about 22 miles southwest of Funchal and have been made a biogenetic reserve, which, today, is the last Atlantic refuge of the Mediterranean monk seal. The Selvagens Islands are made up of two groups of small islands, Selvagem Grande and Selvagem Pequena, and have a nature reserve, where we can find some of the rarest flora on the planet. They are also considered a bird sanctuary.

So, we hope you won’t loose this opportunity to combine science and leisure in 2011!

Looking forward to meeting you in Madeira,

Paulo Paixão Vitor Duque

Chairman Co-Chairman

As the premier conference in its field, Health Protection 2010 will offer  an exciting, varied and innovative programme reflecting the latest in scientific advances and practice to protect against threats to health - from infectious diseases and environmental hazards, to chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear emergencies.

Detailed information is available on http://www.healthprotectionconference.org.uk/

Poster exhibition
Posters on new findings and developments in health protection will be on view throughout the two days of the conference in an extensive exhibition.  Attended viewings on both days provide an opportunity to discuss the work with authors.

Meetings for professional networks on Monday 13 September
To make the most of the event, and the gathering of colleagues at the conference, some groups/networks are likely to wish to book a meeting room on Monday 13 September, before the start of the conference. Please send an email to us to request a meeting room for your group.

III International Clinical Virology Sympòsium
Buenos Aires, Argentina
08 November 2010- 10 November 2010

For further information please visit the website at www.virology2010.com

Dear Colleagues,

As the Latin American correspondent from the Pan American Society for Clinical Virology (PASCV, US), I am pleased to invite you to participate at the “III International Clinical Virology Symposium and Advances in Vaccines” to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 8 -10, 2010.

Some of the main goals for this meeting are to share and discuss knowledge about the different advances in clinical virology. We will analyze new virus, as influenza virus A (H1N1) that caused the 2009 pandemic, the evolution of the viral diagnosis and follow up of patients, as well as to exchange opinions on the improvement, characteristics, and indications of the new viral vaccines.

Due to the impact of the scientific activities of the Clinical Virology Symposium organized by the PASCV in the US during the last 25 years and the two International Symposiums held in Argentina and Chile, all sponsored by this society, we would like to continue the interaction and education of the scientific community through this III International Symposium.

This International Symposium is a great opportunity to gather together colleagues and friends from different countries, exchange information about the recent advances of the most important and frequent issues in Clinical Virology and indications of New Vaccines.

The most well-known international specialists have confirmed their participation and distinguished local professionals are collaborating with the Symposium to achieve the success of this event.

The Symposium will gather virologists, infectious diseases physicians, pediatricians, clinicians and biochemists, from different parts of the world, who will have the opportunity to meet the most important representatives of the specialty and enjoy a commercial exhibition, showing the latest advances in Diagnostic Virology, new therapies and new vaccines.

In addition, poster sessions will be included in the scientific program with information of the assistants.

Looking forward to seeing you in Buenos Aires.

Sincerely yours,

Marcela Echavarría, Ph. D.
President “III International Clinical Virology
Symposium and Advances in Vaccines”
Latin American Correspondent, PASCV

· Development and use of reference reagents and quality controls for the standardisation of molecular assays for clinical pathogens
· Assessing the variability and performance of molecular assays for clinical pathogens: EQAS and proficiency studies, assay comparisons and data reporting
· Technical aspects of molecular assays which impact on standardisation, including new and emerging technologies
· Regulatory issues relating to standardisation, including regulation of IVDs, and harmonisation of guidelines

Registration and call for abstracts:
We are now accepting registration for this meeting and are calling for titles for proposed presentations. Titles with a brief abstract summarising the proposed presentation should be submitted no later than 8th October 2010.

the XIIth Nidovirus Symposium in 2011 (Nido2011)
Traverse City, Michigan, U.S.A.
04 September 2011- 09 September 2011

The XIIst International Nidovirus Symposium will be held from June 4-9, 2011 at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, Acme, Michigan, U.S.A. For detailed information please visit the website at www.uky.edu/Ag/Nido2011/. For hotel reservations please contact www.grandtraverseresort.com.

We cordially invite you to join us for the XIIth International Symposium on Nidoviruses (Nido2011) that will take place from June 4th (Saturday) through 9th (Thursday), 2011 at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa in Acme, Michigan, USA.Over the past 30 years, this symposium has evolved – together with the Order Nidovirales – into a triennial event that covers all aspects of Nidovirology, from molecular biology to pathogenesis and vaccine development.  The primary objective of this symposium is to provide the opportunity for the scientists who are working on three genetically related positive stranded RNA virus families (Coronaviridae, Arteriviridae and Roniviridae) to share their latest research findings, exchange ideas, and disseminate information.  For newcomers to this field, the symposium will be an excellent opportunity to get an overview of the most recent developments and to discuss details with experts in particular areas of nidovirology.  Naturally, there will be ample opportunity to present and discuss your own data during workshops and poster sessions, or more informally outside (official) symposium hours.  Also for that reason, we have selected Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, where we will be able to “concentrate” on the Symposium and its participants in a single location.  Located near Traverse City, Michigan, Grand Traverse Resort & Spa is one of the Midwest's largest and most comprehensive meeting destinations. In conclusion, we hope to welcome you in June 2011 and to be able to offer you an inspiring Symposium in a relaxing atmosphere.  Please, note that the number of participants will be limited (first come, first served basis).

If you are interested in attending this meeting from June 4-9, 2011, please visit Nido2011 website (http://www.uky.edu/Ag/Nido2011/) and “Get Meeting Updates by Email”.  This will allow us to keep you updated with the latest information on the symposium.  The registration will open January 01, 2011 and there will be a strict deadline for registration (March 03, 2011).  After this date, we cannot guarantee your accommodation or participation in the Symposium.  The abstract deadline will be March 01, 2011.  Also note that the standard procedure for registration, payment (by credit card) and abstract submission are fully electronic. All currently available information about the scientific and social program, traveling to Traverse City, accommodation, registration, and abstract submission is now included on the website (http://www.uky.edu/Ag/Nido2011/).  If you have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us at Nido2011@gmail.com.
